FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Section Title

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I am flexible. I can work around my pricing with customers who are serious about getting my

services and remaining my clients.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I usually like to start by asking them for clarification of their issues and taking it from there. I

like to have a feel of what the clients will need, so essentially, they will make the decision of

whether to hire me or not after an initial consultation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated with a degree in Human services with a concentration in mental and behavioral

health. I had to do field work training in a high school as a counselor and I also had to shadow

a therapist to get the gist of the field. I do some counseling for my patients at the hospital I

work at now, but decided it was time to start putting my skills to use to others out there.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Honestly, I started school studying nursing, although I have always felt a calling to do counseling or therapy for my love of it and the natural knack to have people open up to me. I had a precious

supervisor who noticed how I usually engaged with my patients at the facility I was working

in at that time and asked me have I considered becoming a counselor or a therapist because & you are so good with these patients at getting them to open up”! As they say, the rest is history.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with customers feeling down and needing general guidance. I’ve also worked

with clients who simply needed someone to listen to them while going through certain issues

or needed sound advice.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I remember I had a client who wanted to leave a hostile relationship but was afraid and unsure

of the outcome if she did. She had children, since I knew the man was not the kids’ father, I had her focus on her kids and their wellbeing, if not her own. After some serious thought processing and feelings, we put a plan together and she finally decided to leave that

relationship. She is now happy and striving! Her kids are so much better off now and doing well. we still stay in contact because we have developed a trusting relationship with each

other.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would tell a customer to look for someone who cares more about your issues than about how

you are going to pay. Ask about a discounted session to test them out first. Understandably,

money is important but if a therapist or counselor is putting more emphasis on the amount, they going to charge before they get to at least the issue of why you came to them in the first place, then you should reevaluate that counselor or therapist. Most of us do this for the love and passion of helping people, not just the monetary reasons.
